@stevesargon quote: I need at least 3 mentors and 3 apprentices in any place I am working... like to hear more about this...

Stephen Thomas01:05:06

So I've reached a point in life and my career where I can set the requirements for them work I do. It’s very freeing and I find myself getting happier and getting more done. I really only care about having apprentices to mentor, I can find mentors elsewhere. The apprentices should also be from underrepresented groups (economically, sexual identity, race, etc) I figure I can have a bigger impact by infecting the young ones and sending them off as viruses into the world.

Nick Eggleston13:05:13

Love it. Especially the infecting and spreading like a virus metaphor 🙂

They SAY it's safe but one only knows for sure when seeing it in practice over time

Gene Kim, ITREV, Program Chair18:05:33

So interesting. Although, GitHub famously in early days had no two infrastructure/ops people in same city! @james.moverley

That would be very interesting to understand how Gitlab does that on-boarding that is so hard remotely for other organizations... and what are the characteristics of those different org types? (@james.moverley)
