I took last week off from work due to US Thanksgiving, and had a lot of fun vibe-coding. Here's the write up I just shared with my team (I work for GitLab so naturally I'm using GitLab Duo), but I wanted to share here as a testament and motivation for all: Living the Duo Dream: Over my break, I used Duo to vibe-code several LLM automations. Here's what I built without having seriously done web development in the last 10 years: • Finance Agent 💰 - Scrapes all my checking and credit accounts to understand spend and highlight changes I need to make. Already this has saved me > $100 USD by providing me with a credit card strategy. • DoorDash Spend Agent 🍔 - Tallies up and reports back on our household food delivery spending habits (the truth hurts sometimes!) This is on display in our kitchen for all family members to see 👁️. I expect this to save me thousands over time, literally. • Email Summarizer 📧 - Targets all 4 of my important email accounts (2 work, 2 personal) to grab over 400 emails a day, surface actions I actually need to take, and outputs to my home assistant dashboard for daily review. This is how I will rest easy knowing that I'm not blocking anyone at work, my bills are getting paid on time and my son is doing well in school every day 😉 -- right now, it's easy for me to miss 1 or more.
