‘Customer’ is the key word here. Customers have needs, and DevOps can address some of them directly, some of them indirectly, but the good practice to rule them all is to understand the needs (forget DevOps, what will get your customer promoted or fired?) and then map specific good practices and capabilities to those needs. The first rule of DevOps in this context is: ‘Do not talk about DevOps’
