Morning! I've written a thing about Day 1 - I think we may be impression managing a bit:) https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/impression-managing-against-looking-undevopsy-duena-blomstrom/
@me1342 I have a word for you: cape fatigue
@ferrix If I knew that term then I would have used it ๐
I have a serious case of cape fatigue.
I definitely feel the fatigue and to hear people like Kimberly Johnson from Fannie Mae say that telling people 10 times about DevOps before they understand it is way underestimated causes even more. On top of that, I'm not in any kind of management. My circle of influence on how we do work is fairly small. I told a co-worker yesterday that my decision is to become the best Gardener leader I can be. I will continue to advocate, but my flame is dying. Attending DOES is my way to try to stoke that flame again. ๐ค
I have memorised this wise quote: "Leadership is gentle nagging." So, it is not about how much you get to tell about the great idea and how many times. Instead, it is the journey they take in thoughts and actions.
Itโs a rollercoaster. Once you realize that, the dips are easier to take. Itโs thrilling:)
Then the ride stops and you have to pay more to get back in...
@jonathon.sturdevant I come here to recharge too. I'm also just a developer. I spend significant amounts of time building partnerships with senior leadership and senior engineers to grow that influence.
Love it. This would be great for DZone @laurenh
I wonder how much Covid has been a factor in that "cape fatigue," as many people feel the need to work longer days in the current, mostly remote environment.
The longest I ever lost my cape was for a few hours. Woke up next day and it grew back:)
@blakee Mine? My last submission was too esoteric and didn't pass so not sure I'll try again ๐
Hereโs a short video from our Dojo: https://youtu.be/PqA8d23REP4
Very cool. Can this be shared, or do you prefer this remain private for conference goers?
Anyone else missing lightning talks? Here is one we pulled together for fun https://youtu.be/bCvp71daSj4
