Thanks so much for a great discussion today! Here are a few thoughts summarizing our conversation: • We’re hoping in the future there will be a greater embrace of technology • The flexibility has been a benefit. Being about to work on the porch, go outside to enjoy nature therapy during the day, and having flexible work hours were all highlights we hope to see continue post-pandemic. We also appreciate having the ability to better care for children and elderly parents with this increased flexibility. We hope this continues in the new normal and that 9-5 isn’t the expectation if the industry doesn’t require it. • We recommend having discussions in our companies before going back to the office about what has worked during the pandemic and what we’ve learned to determine what changes should be carried forward & to have a better workplace in the future. • Some companies have innovated and started offering new benefits we hope will continue post-pandemic such as: covering lunch expenses if you order from small local restaurants, asking event sponsors to contribute to event-relevant charities in place of covering in person costs like food & beverages, providing employee health benefits like online mental health counseling and talk lines, and providing $ towards setting up a home office. We should ask employees what benefits we want to stick when the new normal arrives. • We hope lessons are being learned that will help us navigate the next pandemic much better. The world is trending towards more interconnectedness, not less, so odds are viruses will continue to spread more quickly in future. We’re hopeful that higher expectations for cleanliness will be part of the new normal.
